For which African countries is a waiver required?

Currently there are 24 African countries for which a Waiver is required. They are not needed for all African destinations. Please visit the Waiver Countries to check for which country a waiver is needed and the different requirements per country.

How to calculate the FOB value?

Free on Board (FOB). This pricing term indicates the cost of the goods, including all transportation costs from the manufacturer to the port of departure. FOB price does not include shipping freight and insurance charges.

What is the difference between statistical value and FOB value?

There is no difference. The statistical value is mentioned on the export declaration. In case of any doubt, please feel free to contact us!

Will I receive a draft Waiver document before the waiver is validated?

Yes, for each waiver country we send a draft for approval with the exception of Sierra Leone. However, for Sierra Leone it is possible to adjust the validated CTN afterwards without extra costs.

What is a CNCA?

CNCA is a different name for a waiver. CNCA stands for Conselho Nacional de CarregadoresA CNCA is required for all shipments going to Angola

The CNCA is an original set of documents and can only be used when it is signed, dated and stamped by the Angolan authorities. A validated CNCA will be sent by courier.

What is a FERI?

FERI is a different name for a waiver. FERI stands for Fiche Électronique des Renseignements a l'ImportationA FERI is required for all shipments going to Democratic Republic Congo.

What is a CTN?

CTN is a different name for a waiver. CTN stands for Cargo Tracking NoteA CTN is required for all shipments going to Sierra Leone and Ghana

What is a BIETC?

BIETC is a different name for a waiver. BIETC stands for Bordereau d'Identification Électronique de Tracabilité des Cargaisons A BIETC is required for all shipments going to Gabon

A validated BIETC will be sent by email.

Important to know: The BIETC needs to be validated within 10 calendar days after sailing. BIETC applications sent 7 calendar days after sailing cannot be accepted!

What is a BSC?

BSC is a different name for a waiver. BSC stands for Bordereau de Suivi de CargaisonA BSC is required for all shipments going to  Ivory Coast and Madagascar

What is a CEE?

CEE means Certificado Eletronico de Embarque. The CEE is required for all shipments going to Guinee Bissau.

Are you able to create waiver for shipments departing outside Europe?

Are the waiver rates for each country the same?

The rates differ per country, depending on the port of loading and type of shipment (LCL, FCL, Breakbulk or Ro/Ro). Please feel free to contact us: thanks to our transparent fees you know what to expect!

What happens when the cargo arrives in the P.O.D. without a valid Waiver document?

The goods cannot be cleared until the Waiver document has been created! For most countries fines and seizure will be applicable when arriving without a valid Waiver document. Please contact IWS in case you need additional information.

Does IWS offer freight forwarding services?

NO! Independent Waiver Service is not providing any freight forwarding services! You can easily ask to establish a waiver for your customer without risking to lose it. We are no competition at all!

Is it mandatory to mention the waiver number on the (Master) Bill of Lading?

This varies per country and policy of the carrier. For further information please contact your contact person at Independent Waiver Service.

What is a F.D.I. document?

F.D.I. means Fiche de Déclaration a l’Importation. This document is required to get the BSC for Ivory Coast validated. The shipper must request the F.D.I. document to the importer in Ivory Coast and is valid for one shipment only.

What is a GUOT document?

GUOT means Guichet Unique des Opérations Transfrontaliers. This document is required to get the ECTN for Congo (Pointe Noire) validated. Shippers should inform their importer in Congo to go and register in THE GUOT to obtain a T.I. number which should be mentioned on the ECTN. The GUOT document must be requested per shipment.

How long will it take before my Waiver has been validated?

This depends on the country of destination. However, if all required documents are complete it will take between 5 and 48 hours.

Is it possible to adjust a validated Waiver document?

Yes, but not for all countries. Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further information.

Does IWS supply any other export documents besides the Waivers?

Besides creating Waiver documents, Independent Waiver Service can deliver the following types of Export documents: Certificate of Origin, EUR-1, EUR-MED, Legalizations at the Chamber of Commerce and Legalizations at Embassies. Please do not hesitate to contact us for more information!
